A taste of Norwegian tradition
Every Wednesday evening in the summer and winter seasons Venabu Fjellhotell hosts a special food experience, “A Taste of Norwegian Tradition”. The meal starts with a tasting plate of local specialities from the mountains. The main course is reindeer rump steak served with local accompaniments. Dessert is an irresistible dish with cloudberries or “mountain gold”. Your host will introduce the food and say a little about the provenance and preparation.
Non residents are welcome, please book in advance.

Venabu’s game dinner, Viltaften
As the evenings get longer, in late October and early November, we light the candles and gather to celebrate the best food that the mountains and nature have to offer. We serve a twelve-course dinner, called Viltaften in Norwegian, of exciting local food and flavours. Our local hunters and foragers have brought us their best. Our chefs prepare the most delicious dishes that will make your mouth water.
Carefully chosen wine and beer menus are available. Why not make a weekend of it? Or reserve a table for the main event.

SPIDSBERGSETER RESORT RONDANE
Gudbrandsdalsbord
On selected Saturdays you are welcome to join us for the renowned Gudbrandsdals buffet at Spidsbergseter. Hot and cold dishes with plenty of desserts. Included is game, fish, shellfish, salads and cheese (and everything you can imagine!)
The buffet is also open to non residents, simply reserve your table in advance.

Sunday lunch
Available on selected Sundays during summer season at Spidsbergseter. Numerous hot and cold dishes as well as plenty of desserts. Coffee afterwards is of course included.
Sunday lunch is also open to non residents, as this is a very popular lunch it´s not possible to reserve a table in advance. Here it´s “first come, first served”.

SPIDSBERGSETER RESORT RONDANE
Aquavit Barn
Originally an old stone barn from 1850, the barn smell has gone but tradition is there is every wall.
Here we serve a large variety, over 220, of this noble Scandinavian spirit. In the barn you’ll be taken on a journey through the world of aquavit, and also the history of Spidsbergseter. Groups can also be served their own food experience in the Aquavit Barn.

Vegetarian and vegan meals
Both Venabu and Spidsbergseter serve alternatives to their meals and adapt for those who have different dietary requirements.
Venabu serves a full vegetarian evening menu every day and there are vegetarian options at every meal.
Vegetarian and Vegan dishes are served as part of our regular buffets and a large salad bar is part of this offering. Most of the sauces are gluten and lactose free. If you have a dietary requirement, please let the hotel know at the time of booking.

Christmas Buffets
Christmas buffets have a long tradition in Norway and normally take place in the weekends leading up to Christmas for party groups and friends. It’s a great pre-Christmas treat in the mountains.
Our buffets comprise of good homemade food, traditional Christmas food, seafood and other delicacies. You’ll need to book early to take part in this tasty seasonal buffet!

Lunch at Venabu’s summer farm, Lykkjesetra
Join us at our summer farm for a cultural food experience. Step into the past and enjoy traditional summer farm fare such as sour cream porridge, dried and cured meats, crispy, warm sour cream waffles and local berries. The “dairymaid” prepares and serves the lunch along with stories about the traditional way of life at the summer farm.
One day a week (this varies, please find out more here), our horse riding trips include the summer farm lunch or make you own way there on foot, by bike or by car. Prebooking essential!

Welcome to Venabygdsfjellet!
Venabygdsfjellet is a mountain area in the municipality of Ringebu. It lies between Gudbrandsdalen and Østerdalen. It has a good snow record from December to April, a stable winter climate, and fantastic ski terrain.
The Venabygdsfjellet plateau is on the southern edge of Rondane National Park, at an altitude between 850 and 1000 metres. The terrain lies partly in the birch forest belt and partly above the tree line. The mountain peaks are 1200–1400 meters and offer superb views in all directions.
